HICSS conferences are devoted to advances in the information, computer,
and system sciences, and encompass developments in both theory and
practice. Papers may be theoretical, conceptual, tutorial or
descriptive in nature. Submissions undergo a double-blind peer
referee process and those selected for presentation will be published
in the Conference Proceedings.

Additional detail may be found on HICSS primary web site:
    http://www.hicss.hawaii.edu Mirror site: http://www.is.cityu.edu.hk/hicss/

*NOTE: The submission site is now open, deadline for paper submission June 15*

We invite submission of original research papers to the Information
Retrieval and Digital Library Applications Mini-Track (part of the
Digital Media: Content and Communications Track) of HICSS-39. The
mini-track will examine both theoretical and application issues
related to information retrieval, cross-language document search,
link-based web search, text summarization, and fact-based
question-answering, as well as the applications of these technologies
in Digital Libraries. We build upon a series of successful minitracks
on Information Retrieval and Digital Libraries from
2003-2005. Particularly welcome are papers that investigate IR methods
applied to Web documents, non-English documents, spoken document
retrieval, and geographic information retrieval, and XML retrieval, as
well as internal and distributed retrieval from digital libraries.

Suggested Topics would include, but are not limited to the following areas:
 * Information Retrieval Language Models, Algorithms and Tools
 * Fact-based Open-domain Question Answering
 * Web-based Information Retrieval -Topic Detection and Tracking over time
 * Geographic Information Retrieval
 * Information Visualization -Text Categorization and Summarization
 * Cross Language Retrieval
 * Speech and Broadcast Retrieval
 * XML Document and Component retrieval
 * Distributed Retrieval from Digital Libraries
 * IR Performance and Evaluation

Papers will be refereed, and accepted papers will be published in the HICSS Conference proceedings by IEEE.
