[Asis-l] NJ-ASIS Lunch Meeting March 31

The New Jersey Chapter of ASIS&T is hosting an afternoon lunch and
networking session on Friday March 31 from Noon to 3pm at the IEEE
Operations Center, 445 Hoes Lane, Piscataway NJ.

Dr. Anthony Breitzman, Principal and Director of Research at 1790
Analytics, will give  a talk based on his paper published in the Journal of
the American Society for Information Science (JASIS 56:1015, August 2005).
That paper, titled  "Automated identification of technologically similar
organizations,"  introduces and validates a method for identifying
technologically similar organizations, industries, or regions by applying
the techniques from information science for term similarity to
international patent classifications. Several applications of the method
will be explored, including identifying hidden competitive threats, finding
potential acquisition targets, locating university expertise within a
technology, identifying competitor strategy shifts, and more

Cost is $20 for NJ ASIST Members, $15 for Students and retirees and $25 for
non-members. A lunch will be served.
