SCIENCE LIBRARIAN 

Available: October 1, 2006 

Terms of Employment.
12-month, full-time, tenure-track, faculty appointment. Academic rank based on relevant experience and educational background. 

Summary of Job Responsibilities.
Participates in collection development and management, reference and research services, and bibliographic instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels. Primary liaison assignment is currently to the Biological Sciences and Chemistry Departments. Provides service at the reference desk, including some evenings and weekends. Reports to Head, Science, Engineering & Business Department. Fulfills requirements of faculty status in areas of contributions to librarianship, scholarly activities, and service; participates in professional activities, professional development, scholarly research and publication; serves on library, university, and/or professional committees. 

Qualifications.
Required: An earned master's degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent and undergraduate degree in a science or related discipline for appointment at the instructor rank (temporary). Additional master's degree in a science discipline required within four years for eligibility for tenure-track appointment. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and general public. 
Strongly Preferred: Master's degree in biological sciences or chemistry. 
Preferred: Second master's degree in a science or related discipline required for appointment at the assistant professor rank. Experience in collection management and reference work at graduate research level. Professional experience teaching or providing library instruction. Professional experience in an academic library/research institution. 

Salary and Benefits.
Appointment rank and competitive salary (beginning at $39,500/Instructor, $42,000/Assistant Professor) will be based on relevant experience and educational background.
