(apology for cross posting)

International Conference on Information Systems 2006 (ICIS 2006)
December 10-13, 2006, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
http://www.ICIS2006.org

Please see the call for papers for ICIS 2006 below, where this is the 3rd year that ICIS has an Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) track as one of the main research tracks.

Please take note on a number of new things this year at ICIS:

1. The overall accepted NUMBER of papers will be increased (by 33% - see below)

2. Research-in-progress papers will be accepted.

3. The HCI track at ICIS will participate in a special issue/theme to be fast tracked by the Journal of Association for Information Systmes (JAIS), the flagship journal of the Association for Information Systems (AIS). The basic idea is that the best papers from the ICIS HCI track will be invited to be fast tracked for publication in JAIS (together with the pre-ICIS HCI workshop best papers, and the best papers from the HCI track at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, HICSS). Details will follow.

So please pass the message around and send in your best work to the following meetings:

- ICIS HCI track (deadline is May 5)
- Pre-ICIS HCI workshop (deadline is in August)

PS. In case you are less clear about the difference between the two:

- ICIS is the most prestigous annual international conference in the information systems field. The first ICIS was in 1980. ICIS normally has an acceptance rate around 15%. The conference has various research tracks that papers are organized into. ICIS is sponsored by AIS. HCI track is one of the several research tracks since 2004.

- The Pre-ICIS workshop is an annual international research workshop designated for HCI research in MIS. It meets right before the ICIS conference. The first pre-ICIS HCI workshop was held in 2002.

Now both meetings (and several other meetings) are sponsored by AIS SIGHCI (http://sigs.aisnet.org/SIGHCI/), established in 2001.

Regards,

Ping

VENUE

Milwaukee, the host city, is the new hot-spot for Midwest meeting
destinations. The city boasts world-class performing and visual arts
venues, fabulous dining, revitalized historic areas, and a sparkling
lakefront. It's also home to the Milwaukee Art Museum's magnificent new
expansion by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. Overlaying its
"big city" trappings, you'll find still find the genuine hospitality of
its residents that has always distinguished Milwaukee. Big city
excitement-small town warmth make Milwaukee an extraordinary place to
visit.

For all it has to offer, Milwaukee remains an affordable destination. It
earns high marks for its accessibility, with 14 airlines serving 90 cities
directly from General Mitchell International Airport. The main
conference activities will take place at one of the most striking
convention facilities in the country, the Midwest Airlines Center.

Attend ICIS 2006 and visit Milwaukee! We look forward to welcoming you.
