[Asis-l] Open Access Citation Information, JISC report

A proposal is to increase the exposure of open access materials and their 
references to indexing services, and to motivate new services by reducing 
setup costs, is contained in a report commissioned and published by the 
JISC Committee for the Information Environment (JCIE) Scholarly 
Communications Group:

Following consultation with key experts and stakeholders, the proposal 
recommends a means for the capture and validation of well-structured 
reference metadata at the point of deposit in institutional repositories, 
and the presentation of this data to harvesting services for citation indexes.

The JCIE is considering whether to adopt the proposal and what follow-up 
action to take.

The wider picture the report investigates is how institutional repositories 
can be harvested by these and other Web citation indexing services to 
measure and exploit the increased impact we believe is happening through
