Below is the announcement for ITAFE05 which is
the second in a series of biannual events organized
by an agricultural informatics group which was
formed by scientists and researchers from various
public and private institutions in Turkey and Greece.

Environment (ITAFE05)

Dear Colleague,
 
It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the International 
Congress on Information Technology in Agriculture,Food & Environment 
(ITAFE05) to be held in October 12-14, 2005 in Adana, Turkey. The event 
is organized by Computer Sciences Research and Application Centre, 
Department of Informatics, Department of Agricultural Machinery, 
Department of Environmental Engineering and Department of Food 
Engineering of the Çukurova University, and hosted by Rectorate of 
Çukurova University (CU). ITAFE05 is sponsored by the Scientific and 
Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), Turkish Informatics 
Society (TBD), Chamber of Agricultural Engineers of Turkey (TZMO, Adana 
branch) and Adana Chamber of Commerce (ASO).
 
ITAFE05 is the second in a series of biannual events organized by the 
Turkish Agricultural Informatics Forum (TR-AGIF) which consists of the 
scientists and researchers from various institutions in Turkey. The 
event is designed to provide opportunity for academicians and 
specialists from the international agriculture, food and environment 
community to meet their peers in Turkey and discuss the latest 
developments in emerging technologies, progress in standards, services, 
systems and their applications on information & communication 
technologies in agriculture, food and environment. The congress will 
include keynote speakers, contributed papers, panels, special sessions, 
tutorials and an exhibition. Also, the event will feature a banquet, 
local concerts, visits and excursion tours to historic and touristic 
sites in/surrounding of Adana province which is located in eastern part 
of Mediterranean Region of Turkey. We sure you will enjoy these 
excellent congress facilities and an amazing post-congress tours in a 
warm and friendly Mediterranean climate.
 
Topics to be addressed include, but not limited to the following:

Virtual reality applications
Biotechnology and bioinformatics
Wireless communication and rural area networks

The contributions will follow the procedure below:
 
Papers
 
Authors are requested to submit abstracts (max. 500 words) of their 
original works by June 15, 2005. All papers should be written in English 
and prepared compatible to the editorial guidelines given at the Web 
site of ITAFE05. Papers must be submitted electronically in MS Word 
format. Arrival of the proposals will be acknowledged by e-mail. Each 
submission shall be refereed by a panel of international experts and 
subjected to review by the technical program committee. The result will 
be announced by the assigned deadline. An accepted paper must be 
presented by one of the authors who must register in the Congress.
 
Tutorials
Tutorial proposals on subjects describing recent advances in systems, 
technologies or applications are welcomed. Length should be tailored for 
half-day or full-day presentations. Supplementary handouts or brochures 
are encouraged.
 
Exhibition Proposals
There will be an exhibition space for exhibitors of latest products, 
solutions and services on ICT in agriculture, food and environment. 
Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of their practicality, 
relevance and priority.
