I'm touting one of my favorite conferences...
Extreme Markup Languages 2005 (August 1-5, Montreal, Canada)
http://www.extrememarkup.com/extreme/
Paper deadline: April 15 (registration free for speakers)
This gem is really terrific for advanced topics in markup research and
related areas. Leading figures in XML always show up in force, seminal
themes are often broached here first, and there is a wonderfully intense,
and somewhat wacky, atmosphere. EML professes an "...unapologetic emphasis
on technical subjects and problems on the frontiers of current practice".
And Montreal, of course, is a lot of fun. Participation from the ASIS/LIS
community is growing, but not yet what I think it might be.
For a sense of the likely content see the aggregated 2001-2004
