Brief description of duties:
The University at Albany Libraries seeks a User Services Technology
Specialist, reporting to the Assistant Director for User Services. The
successful candidate will install, troubleshoot, and maintain operating
systems, security and additional software on all public workstations in the
Interactive Media Center. Working with the Library Web Administrator, the
candidate will assist in the development of the Libraries Web site, plan,
implement and maintain applications in support of the Libraries Web
presence. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the development
and implementation of division-wide technology projects.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor in Computer Science, Management
Information Systems, or related field; experience with selection,
troubleshooting, and evaluation of peripheral devices and their application
for multimedia production in both Windows and Mackintosh OS; knowledge of
current and emerging technologies in digital and Web-based services;
demonstrated proficiency in the following: relational database programming
on SQL Server to create dynamic or data driven Web content; Web application
development using Microsoft Visual Studio or other authoring tools; Web site
design; XHTML; ASP; Visual Basic and script languages including Visual Basic
Script and JavaScript. A demonstrated ability to work with culturally
diverse people. Preferred qualifications: experience with the MS IIS Web
server environment; knowledge of XML and metadata standards; Windows
applications development; MS .NET; Php/MYSQL; library and/or teaching
experience.

This is a twelve-month appointment.
