Colleagues and friends:

I will be holding "The Special Symposium on the International Music
Information Retrieval Systems Evaluation Laboratory (IMIRSEL)" on 10
June 2004 in Tucson, AZ from 1:00-5:00PM. This is a "side meeting" of
the Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL 2004) (7-12 June
2004)[http://jcdl2004.org].

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together all parties interested
in MIR/Music Digital Library (MDL) evaluation. The specific focus of the
meeting will be to garner feedback and advice with regard to the
International Music Information Retrieval Systems Evaluation Laboratory
being constructed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We
hope also to discuss scenarios for the "evaluation contests" proposed
by Pedro Cano of the host lab of the ISMIR 2004 meeting in Barcelona,
October 2004 [http://ismir2004.ismir.net/ISMIR_Contest.html].

Background information on IMIRSEL and the related projects can be found at:
http://ismir2003.ismir.net/papers/Downie.PDF
http://music-ir.org/evaluation/wp.html

Please email me at jdownie at uiuc.edu if you are interested in attending.
All are welcome and we encourage all manner of feedback, commentaries
and suggestions.

Hope this finds each of you well.

Cheers,
Stephen
