Dear Friend of CSTB:

I would like to invite you to attend one of two presentations of the findings
of the study _Beyond Productivity: Information Technology, Innovation, and
Creativity_, published by the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board
of the National Academies and sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation.  

_Beyond Productivity_ examines the dynamic intersection of information
technology with the world of the arts and design.  This intersection has
already yielded results of significant cultural and economic value, including
innovative architectural and product designs, computer animated films, games
and music, interactive art installations, cross-cultural experimentation, and
Web-based texts.  However, many opportunities for new collaborative ventures
remain to be explored.

Leading the discussions will be Professor William J. Mitchell, academic head
of Media Arts and Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
(which includes the Media Lab) and Chairman of the study committee that
produced Beyond Productivity.  He will be joined by members of the study
committee, as well as leaders from academia, philanthropy, and the technology
and art communities.  Each attendee will receive a complimentary copy of
_Beyond Productivity_.
