> Provides workshops and consulting on a broad range of general library
> science topics to librarians around the state, prepares reports, articles,

> Essential Functions:

> Consult with Texas librarians, library systems, library boards, and
> interested citizens in the areas of library operations and programming.
> Plan, coordinate, implement, present, and evaluate continuing education
> workshops on a variety general library science topics.
> Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance
> policies.
> Complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including
> safety and standards of conduct.

> Non-Essential Functions:
> Perform other duties as assigned.

> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
> 
> Master's degree in library or information science from an American Library
> Association accredited library school.
> Two years library work experience.
> Experience or formal education in one or more of the following: technical
> services, cataloging, reference services, collection development, space
> planning and library construction, public relations/promotions, electronic
> database searching, government documents.
> Experience in the design and production of training materials and/or
> planning training meetings.
> Experience using computer software such as word processing, spreadsheet,
> database, or HTML editor programs.
> Ability to analyze data, to formulate conclusions, to develop policies and
> guidelines and to write reports.
> Ability to work well with individuals, groups and other consultants.
> Ability to speak before groups.
> 
> PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
> 
> Two years work experience as a professional librarian or manager.
> Experience or formal education in at least two of the following: technical
> services, cataloging, reference, collection development, space planning
> and library construction, public relations/promotions, electronic database
> searching, government documents.
> Work experience in different types of libraries.
> Experience in web page creation or design.
> 
> OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
> 
> Submit complete college transcripts (undergraduate and graduate).
> Submit portfolio of writing samples and training materials.
> Applicants selected for interview will make a 15-minute presentation on a
> technical subject of their choice; the presentation may be videotaped.
> Frequent travel by airplane and personal automobile required; some evening
> and weekend work.
> Light lifting required.
> 
> Supervision
> None.  Reports to Manager, Continuing Education and Consulting.
