> SUMMARY
> The Manager of Continuing Education and Consulting is responsible for the

> ESSENTIAL
> Coordinate and manage a statewide consulting program to assist libraries.
> Coordinate and manage a statewide continuing education program, including
> workshops, conferences, distance education opportunities, and
> publications.
> Oversee the management of the Library Science Collection, the Texas
> Reading Club, statewide divisional newsletter, and other special projects.
> Prepare and control a performance-based budget for these programs.
> Monitor workflow, performance, and program costs.
> Represent the agency and division on statewide committees in areas related
> to position.
> Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance
> policies.
> Complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including
> safety and standards of conduct.

> NON-ESSENTIAL

> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
> Master's degree in library or information science from an American Library
> Association accredited library school.
> Three years experience at the management level in a public or academic
> library.
> Three years supervisory experience, including supervision of professional
> librarians.
> Work experience in designing and conducting training and planning
> meetings, production of training materials, and presentation of workshops.
> Ability to use microcomputers (including word-processing, spreadsheets,
> databases, webpublishing and Internet).
> Ability to write technical evaluation reports, long range plans, and
> budget reports.
> Ability to analyze data, formulate conclusions, develop policies and
> guidelines, and design and conduct evaluations.
> Ability to consult with individuals and groups.
> Ability to conduct workshops, speak before groups, and testify at public
> hearings.
> 
> PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
> Work experience with public libraries, academic libraries, state
> libraries, or cooperative library systems or networks.
> Work experience or formal education in consulting, continuing or adult
> education, long range planning, library management, library technology,
> literacy, library services to special populations, systems analysis,
> budgeting, public/business administration, statistics, networking, or
> multi-type cooperation.
> Experience producing, writing, or editing professional publications or
> newsletters.
> Experience with distance education (videoconferences, web-based courses,
> or other).
> Experience with Internet and web publishing.
> Experience working with cross-functional committees.

> OTHER REQUIREMENTS
> Submit complete college transcripts (undergraduate and graduate).
> Submit portfolio of writing samples and sample training materials.
