Subject: [Asis-l] Questions for candidates

===8<==============Original message text===============
Thanks a lot Jeremy

You go straight to the more simple question :-) as can be expected
from a smart person like you.

Basically I feel this is an old dream which the apparent reinvention
of the wheel in many corners of broad "information" field is
reactivating.

I believe that "the soul's joy lies in doing". Thus I'd see an effort at
encouraging people within the various special groups of ASIS&T and
beyond to systematically look for those principles which they feel are
the corner stone of their intellectual and social endeavours. And
facilitating a dialogue among them.

The balance is not less a difficult issue since everyone feels "the
others" take too much room. While many colleagues in less favoured
countries are kept aside of our conversations.

But I do believe the quest for this "unifying conceptual ground"
should be present in all what we do.

The principles you mention are certainly dear to me. But who am I to
tell which principles are appropriate?

Sorry, this is not a subject that can be properly addressed in a short
exchange like this. But thanks again for raising the debate. I hope it
continues, and bring us somewhere some day.

Best regards

Michel
