Victor,
I agree with Dietmar's response to this question. ASIST has consistently
been responsive to the interests of members as those have developed and
changed over time, including the fairly recent emergence of Information
Architecture as a significant area of interest and activity. The ability to
respond quickly to provide opportunities for members (and potential members)
to explore emerging areas, as has occurred in the IA Summits, and to form
interest groups for communication and mutual sharing, as in the IA SIG, is a
major strength of our society. I would expect IA to continue as a focus so
long as it is important to members. At the same time, I would expect other
areas of intellectual and technological growth in the information field to
emerge and that ASIST will respond to these in a manner similar to what has
occurred with IA.
