Make plans now to attend the 2002 NMRT President's Program at the ALA Annual
Conference in Atlanta! This year's theme is "The Successful 21st Century
Librarian."
Successful 21st century librarians need to go beyond being able to provide
their patrons with useful information or book recommendations. Career
advancement in the information age calls for a new set of abilities,
including networking with others both on- and offline, contributing to the
profession through publication and the creation of online resources, and
using new tools to collaborate, cooperate, and locate the perfect position.
Join our panel of successful librarians, authors, and online personalities
for a presentation and Q&A on these and related topics.
Panelists will include Rachel Singer Gordon, Head of Computer Services at
the Franklin Park Public Library in Illinois; Sarah Nesbeitt, Librarian and
Assistant Professor at Booth Library, Eastern Illinois University; and Susan
Scheiberg, Head of Acquisitions and Serials at RAND.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 15th, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30
p.m. in Z Plaza Ballroom of the Westin Peachtree Plaza. For more
information, including panelists' bios and topics, visit the NMRT
President's Program website at
<http://www7.tamu-commerce.edu/libref/nmrt/> or email Melody Allison, NMRT
President's Program Chair, at Liballi at isugw.indstate.edu.

"They are subversive. You think
they're just sitting there at the
desk, all quiet and everything.
They're like plotting the
revolution, man."
