Right on Target: Using Internet Search Engines Effectively
Search engines are powerful tools providing access to information on the
Web. But, do you always find what you need? Why do you get different
results from different engines? Do you know when to use a different
engine from your usual standby?
Search engines vary considerably in capabilities, content, and quality
of retrieval. This intermediate to advanced workshop will focus on what
you as a librarian, media specialist, teacher, or other professional
need to know about search engines in order to use them most effectively
to achieve the results you need. To understand how different engines
deliver different results, the workshop will briefly examine how engines
work. Search features will be covered along with comparisons of the
major engines. The usefulness of meta-search engines will also be examined.
Hands-on practice is included and you will receive an extensive manual
that will continue to serve as a valuable reference guide.

What's New in Search Engines
A lot of changes have taken place among Web search engines in the last
year or two. New search engines (WiseNut and Teoma) have come along and
some have faded away. Very importantly, search engines such as Google
and AllTheWeb have greatly enhanced their size, coverage and searching
functionality.
Are you totally up-to-date on the latest search engines developments?
This half-day workshop will make sure you are up to speed! It will also
be very useful for anyone who took the "Right on Target" workshop more
than a year ago.
Hands-on practice is included and you will receive a manual that will
continue to serve as a valuable reference guide.
