Dear friends:

I would like to invite all those who might be nearby the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on 2 May 2002 to join us for an informal
demonstration and discussion colloquium on Music IR at the Graduate
School of Library and Information Science. We hope to have research team
members from University of Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins,
Indiana University Digital Music Library and OMRAS projects, and the
University of Illinois, participate in this friendly get together. Think
of this meeting as an "show and tell" event where the various projects
get to demonstrate to each other, and to the broader world, the latest
advances they have made in developing and implementing their MIR
technologies. 

The general plan--as it stand now--is to devote the morning of 2 May to
the "show and tell" aspect of the meeting where the broader community
will also be invited to join in and be "wowed" by the great systems
these teams are developing. In the early afternoon we will come together
as researchers and interested parties to discuss how we can build
stronger inter-team connections and implementation strategies with an
eye toward the next phases in MIR research and development.

Again, I would like to stress that this is a rather informal meeting and
does not require registration or anything of the sort. If you think you
might be interested in joining us and seeing what these very productive
research teams are up to, simply drop me an email at jdownie at uiuc.edu so
I can make sure that we have enough coffee and cookies to go around :)
