Calling Mobile UX Designers!!
I have a very unique role. This is working client-side, with one of the most
revolutionary publishers in the history of Britain. With a reputation that
spans across international markets, my client is respected as an iconic
brand that attracts some of the brightest and creative minds of our time.
I am now looking for a User Experience Architect who has a strong background
designing for Applications on mobile devices. It is OK if you have designed
across multiple platforms so long as your portfolio demonstrates
specifically designing for mobile applications. In many cases the Editor
will approach you with specific business requirements and you have to use
your creative thinking to sketch design concepts for iPad
applications/tablet devices. This is an extremely visually orientated role
so you must really be more of a sketch/creative UEA rather than a more
technically orientated IA. This role is certainly suitable for the UX
Designer who has come from a visual design background!
My client is flexible in terms of salary to get the right person onboard
so whether you are a mid-weight or senior person this is not an issue in
terms of making an application. The team is made up of 7 people, some of
which are freelancers, project managers and designers. It is a
multi-disciplinary team that works within a Prince working environment. It
is essential that you have strong Project Management skills.
If you are interested in working for a brand that has had a historic impact
on Public debate through Politics, Arts and Science then it is worth you
making an application. The interview process is not long winded! They are
looking to get someone onboard as soon as possible. It consists of a two
stage interview in lovely offices in Central London. The company offers
great benefits. They include an annual walk, summer working hours, 2 free
books per day and 50% off healthcare!
In terms of the role itself, you will be working with publishers and
designers. Your designs will be in line with the Publishers creative vision.
The pivotal factor in this role is to understand the end-users needs, and
translate this into intuitive interface solutions. You will create designs
from initial ideas and produce storyboards and documentation to communicate
the information and interaction design of the product.
In terms of your qualities, it is essential that you have excellent
communication skills, and you are confident enough to defend concepts and
negotiate with multiple project stakeholders to reach compromises. You must
ideally have some basic knowledge of coding so you can tech-talk with the
developers within an app environment. If you have strong coding skills this
is a big bonus for my client.
Specific key skills include;
· Ability to prototype
· Theoretical understanding of interface design principles
· Knowledge of UCD methodologies
· Understanding of web standards
· Knowledge of UI Design in RIA environment
· Strong IA deliverables required: wireframes, storyboards,
flow-charts, and clickable prototypes and enjoy sketching low-fidelity
prototypes, of course
· Significant experience of designing web-based interfaces
· Tools: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Office suite
Location: Central London
Salary: Up to £45,000
