Hi,
since the German TÜV has already been mentioned... When talking about seals
and other signs it's important to have a view of the local market and the
industry itself.
In is true that in Germany the TÜV is highly respected and in fact the
"trust" certificate. In addition, there is a number of independent
test-organizations that test products and services and give their notes
(Stiftung-Warentest, ...) which are highly regarded by the customers.
In this case, it does make sense to place them on the site and use them for
marketing purposes. Of course, no need to overdo it.

Here a good "german" example: :)
http://www.cyberport.de/ - see seals on the bottom-left... They place the
seals also at the appropriate places in the, for example, payment process
where they are not obtrusive, but users do see them and get a sense of
"trust".

Of course, another debate is if these certificates actually mean and prove
something, and if yes, what...

Best,

Bogo Vatovec
