ABOUT THE PRESENTATION
The presentation will provide a walkthrough of the history and current
landscape of Social Networking and Social Media on the Internet.
In addition to many broad social sites (Facebook, mySpace, Flickr and
YouTube) and topical sites (catster, dogster and myyearbook), we will
explore how other communities and companies are beginning to leverage the
social media technology (so called web 2.0 technology) to improve the level
of engagement of their constituency.
We have just experienced Version 1.0 of the Web 2.0 revolution. While the
successes are many and large, there remain many issues and challenges that
prevent many other users or social communities to join the revolution. We'll
examine the successes achieved so far and limitations to be solved. We'll
present our view of second version of the revolution as Social Media 2.0
might look like and the opportunity it presents to social community
entrepreneurs, community groups (PTAs, Non-Profits, Associations, User
groups), and companies and brand marketers. We'll describe how Orbius' view
such opportunity in its context.
