No. SL has high ubiquitosity thanks to media "wow" pieces. There are
several mature virtual meeting systems. SL has the not-quite-unique
advantage that it is free and offers more than just virtual meeting
facilities as well as high coolness/buzz factor. And yes, buzz sells.
I am interested in the IA of SL - the information structure
potentially being represented as a building (which has always been
done in a scarily bad way - I am interested in finding out if there
are corporate buildings that do it better). ABC Australia does SL well
- Donna Maurer talked us through the guided tour a couple of nights
ago. They use doors as did-you-know gateways, training the users
through use of the system - I think a good thing.
