Therein lies the root cause: people who have trouble evaluating candidates'
qualifications should not ever be in a position to hire them. Certification
helps these mismatched managers maintain a false sense of competency. The
irony is that in the IT world, for instance, the insidious reliance on
certification goes down significantly as the significance of a job title
goes up. Indeed, it could be said that there's an inverse relationship
between expected creativity and requirement for certification.
