The Hello Kitty laptop - a final thought (sorry, am behind on list
postings).
In an electronic (web) environment, design is one of the fundamentals that
affects functionality (Ok, in many others too, but that's the one that this
list is focusing on predominantly). My question is: is the design of this
laptop fundamentally bad, or does it just have a rather egregious image on
the top?
The design of the laptop seems to be fine - it has not been suggested that
it doesn't open, fit on your lap, type well, run the desired software,
interconnect with whatever it needs to interconect with etc etc.
Then, surely, whether it is decorated with an image or pattern on the case
is neither here nor there in terms of its design. This image does not affect
its functionality in the least.
Functionality/design and decoration/pattern/colour - are closely related in
many cases, but not, I suggest, in this case.
I still fail to see why it should be called bad design - no matter what Ziya
says - when it's merely the decoration on one side of it that is not to
everyone's taste.
