You are right, many BA's decisions are by their nature acts of design -
which is why it's important to work closely with BA's and not against them.
It's also important that an IA's touch points are defined by any work
process that may exist.

One of the greatest struggles I face as an IA is to avoid doing everything,
and allocate work accordingly within some kind of guidelines. if business's
want BA's the n ll the better, however, ensuring you have touch points into
key decisions and process's. If you are the BA and an IA then really you
should be able to speed up the overall process, which to any business is
seen as a good thing, however watch your workload.

Sorry - not being clear. I wasn't talking about BA's stepping outside  
of their domain.

What I meant was that many business analyst decisions are, by their  
nature, acts of design. Just as some acts of design affect business  
processes. You can't draw a sensible line to separate the two.
