Yes, and there are people who think Steve Jobs should our next  
President. I'd be tempted to sign up for that, but then I remember  
Will Durst's joke about Bogart and Reagan:

   "Reagan turned down Bogart's part in the movie 'Casablanca.'
    Imagine how history would have changed if he had taken the
    part. Bogart might have been President. Of course,
    'Casablanca' would have been a crappy movie."

My point is that it's entertaining to dream about Apple "fixing" any  
one or two or even three random industries with notoriously bad  
design and/or business-practice skills. However, before we spend a  
lot of energy on that idea, I'd want to see at least one industry  
where there's clear evidence that Apple's work _has actually changed_  
the course of said industry.

Yes. Apple could beat anyone else's camera designs, given a five-year  
startup cycle -- but would it be worth it? And would it actually  
cause any of the other companies to fundamentally change their design  
processes?
