Lunatic fringe conspiracy theory tells us that societies evolve to the
stage where everything not proscribed is prescribed... everything not
compulsory is banned. Is there a similar process in design? Will we
have specialist PDA/Smartphone interface designers (oops, too late for
that!), specialist catfood tin designers, and so on? How specialised do
you think it will actually get in reality? And what of the designers
who specify the specialities - dare I say it, metadesigners?
Perhaps the punctuated-designers will spin in ever tighter Venn diagram
circles until they finally disappear up their own colons?
Cheers, Andrew
