Okay, I have to jump in on this one.
This thread is about being considerate, yet, that went out the window a while ago in relation to the members of this list.
Why does any professional on this list feel the need to start with the name calling? I do not want to start a flame war, but honestly, is that necessary?
Frankly, I enjoy the off-topic discussions more than the IA discussions more often than not. Then again, I am one of the folks that made it all the way through "The Social Life of Information".
You see, we really deal with perceptions. How does a user percieve the systems we build? How does a customer at Home Depot perceive the layout of the store? How does an employee at a supermarket perceive the layout when it comes to doing inventory? These are all topics that *anyone* on this list should have input on.
If you flee from chaos, you should *not* be on this list. If you want to make order from chaos, which is what information architecture is, then most of the off-topic posts that I have seen deal with that in some degree.
And for the record, I hate the iPod interface. I shattered the three thumb bones on my left hand years ago and scrolling is hard. I still own and love one. I wait for Apple to create a special edition iPod called "iPod: iThritis Edition".
Seriously, though, this thread just needs to stop.
