Sorry for the cross posts...

I thought this might be of interest to the group. This has applicability to
information architecture, content processes and taxonomy derivation. There
is no charge for the series and it is educational in nature. (We are hoping
to start a community of practice around SNA after the series).

Introduction to SNA - What is Social Network Analysis?
This introductory presentation covers the basics of analyzing networks of
people in various contexts. We define social network analysis (SNA) and
organizational network analysis (ONA), and discuss the business value for
various applications. The discussion will provide a context for
understanding what “SNA” and “ONA” are, how network analysis is becoming
used as a diagnostic tool to identify knowledge and information flows. It
will cover:
- Background and development of SNA/ONA
- A case example of using ONA to identify opportunities (M&A, KM, OD, etc)
- How to apply ONA to taxonomy development
- Applications to knowledge management
- Business issues that are currently being addressed by ONA

boundaries that define organizational fiefdoms and politics. Understand how
important information is communicated. Attendees will learn about:
- Application of ONA to reveal back channels and unofficial means of
communications

acquisitions and how ONA can lower the risk associated with the human
capital aspects of M&A , shorten the post-merger integration process, and
quantitatively assess current states of integration

knowledge management
