> "Burn Polar Bear Book"
Was there a song to go with this? Something like

Haven't read the book, so I can't comment on that but I have a burn story
too.
Was called in for a global design guidelines project for a huge financial
services company with a reputation for being very cheap. Met with their
design director, who at some point gave me a 1.5" thick study done for the
company a few years earlier during the dotcom era. I glanced through it and
asked him how much it cost. He said over $1 million. I looked back in
puzzlement as the "deliverable" appeared to be one of those template jobs.
Then he asked me if I could make any use of it (they are a cheap company
;-). I said I don't know because I hadn't read it. He asked me if I could
take a little time to see if anything in it was salvageable. He said he
could go take another meeting while I studied it.
After looking at it for about 15-20 mins I put it down. Soon he came back
and asked me what I thought of it. I said: "Burn it." To which he replied,
"You can't burn stuff inside the office."
Minutes later I realized the man wasn't being sarcastic, he was actually
being anal retentive. He literally was talking about restrictive fire
regulations, not the notion of obliterating the "deliverable."
Not too many minutes after that realization, I concluded the meeting and
left the building in a hurry.
