Hi wax,
there's scientific credibility and then there's IA street cred - I'm not sure
which sells more books (and PDF reports). It is a complex thing, the
relationship between the "names", the scientific community and the people in
the trenches.
As to citing - as in all other facets of life, for every expert opinion there is
an equal and opposite opinion, and as our friend Ziya would say, down that road
lies the easy slide into the damnation of "best practices". :)
Cheers, Andrew
