Omgeo is seeking a UI Designer to design and implement UI, information
architecture and usability. No relocation budget is in place, so only for
those within commuting distance of downtown Boston Massachusetts.

The Role
The User Interface Designer applies detailed knowledge of usability
standards, design principles, user needs, and user behavior to ensure that
all user interfaces to Omgeo applications are of high quality, extremely
usable, and consistent across all products. This role consists primarily of
a combination of research and analysis, UI design and specification,
building organizational standards/guidelines around UI design, and
training/mentoring.
The Design & Analysis Team is a part of the Business Analysis function
within Omgeo Product Management.
Responsibilities
Develop conceptual models, storyboards, wire frames, prototypes, and
detailed UI design requirements/specifications for web-based client-facing
applications based on client requirements and usability studies.
Research, analyze, and document user needs and behaviors as required to
inform the UI design.
Work with Marketing staff to integrate branding standards/ requirements
into UI design.
Work with Technology staff to ensure design can meet technical constraints
for applications that generally require interactions around large amounts of
data and the ability to paint screens and process quickly.
Work cross functionality to develop standards/guidelines that result in a
consistent look and feel for all of Omgeos products.
Review and evaluate Omgeos existing user interfaces.
Establish UI Design Guidelines and Best Practices for Omgeo applications.
Provide training/mentoring on current UI design techniques, standards, and
principles.
Communicate UI design direction throughout Product Management and Business
Analysis.
Serve as a consulting resource on all user experience issues.
Develop and maintain an awareness of both competitive and partner
products user interfaces.
Remain current on UI Design techniques, standards, and principles.
Qualifications
5+ years professional user interface design experience with excellent
knowledge of interface design processes, standards, and best practices for
web distributed applications.
Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors
or related field, or demonstrated job related experience and success.
Demonstrated ability to develop user interface standards, create
prototypes, produce detailed specifications, and deliver on requirements.
Demonstrated ability to train/mentor others by sharing knowledge and
understanding.
Familiarity with current usability research, theories, and methodologies.
Experience with techniques for role-based analysis and design of dynamic
user interfaces.
Demonstrated flexibility and practicality in applying user interface
design principles and methodologies in a business environment.
Experience in the Financial Services Industry a major plus. Understanding
of the securities markets. Knowledge of Institutional trade processing
(including Electronic Trade Confirmation, Matching, Straight Through
Processing (STP), and current industry initiatives).
