Whilst some programmers use 'system efficiency' as a means for gaining
status from peers (via perceived success from management), there are many
who simply consider it as the very fundament of user experience and hence
work on it with that in mind; and that's a preferable state of affairs than
the former, IMO. Unless there's a real business case for a system being
inefficient, what company cultures have you examples of where system
efficiency doesn't aid user experience?
