Southern  Michigan Northern Ohio Local Special Interest Group in 
Computer  Human Interaction (SIGCHI) of the ACM:

Though I've not been able to attend meetings recently, it's a great 
gathering spot for folks of our ilk (and you needn't be a member to 
attend). Contact them or some of the folks at the School of Information 
(http://www.si.umich.edu) and they can put you in contact with plenty 
of people. I'd also be happy to get together with you.
