 That is indeed a correct assumption. There is a way to past it as an
Enhanced Metafile object. Then while having it selected, point to Shape >
Grouping > Create Group. This didn't work for me as expected.

I pretty much realized that it would take more time than just doing it from
scratch, which Is what I've done now. If ever, I come across a way of moving
data in a meaningful way between these two programs, I will post again.

Just as a way of reference, the point of the exercise was to take an
illustrator document, convert it to visio, so I could use custom properties
to build high-level content matrices.

Right. Sorry. There's an implicit assumption here that what Subir wants to
do is "convert and EDIT an illutrator file into Viso."

maybe my assumption is wrong, maybe Subir can confirm.

but the EPS isn't going to be editable, in a meaningful way, in Visio. 
It's just going to be a graphic.
