Hey Dan,
We have developed a tool which is basically a check list of the different
items on a given website.
It has main categories like Usability, Functionality, Accessibility etc.
Each of these categories have questions in them that the tester can score
(e.g. low/medium/high).
An example question in the Usability section is: "Is there a transparent and
easy to use registration and enrolment process?"
Testers are then asked to enter a site and fill out the score sheets.
The end result after a couple of tests can be used for multiple purposes. It
can be a analysis of competition sites, or an analysis to identify
strong/weak areas on your own site.
The results can make a good starting point for discussions. Especially if
you have screen shots and comments to illustrate. It can also be used in a
more hands-on / work shop environment.
cheers,
Reinoud Bosman
