[Sigia-l] IA for non-web based projects

Probably because any good designer can figure out what is needed with
respect to IA in a particular project. Either from experience, in literature
or by consulting the right specialist.
Just like any good designer can figure out the properties of aluminium
when designing bicycle accessories. But to go so far to rename
"bicycle accessory design" to "mobile aluminium architecture" ? Dunno.
In your previous mail you talked about the management of design. Check
out www.dmi.org. Founded in 1975. I am sure you know this institute.
I happened to stumble upon a Review journal from winter 1993:
"Information Design: Managing the Impact and Usefulness of Information"
Still pretty useful stuff in there for the subscribers of this list.

Really?
Is this your guess, or you have your sources in IKEA that tells you the
intentions of IKEA? As far as I know from my source, there is a design
group that work in IKEA and they have no knowledge of what IA can do for
them.
