Hi,
We are looking for ideas and case studies on how to convince content owners
of the value of taxonomies. This could mean any or all of the following:

-- developing and maintaining specialized codes, vocabularies, or thesauri
for a subject or corporate function;
-- entering enterprise-standard metadata when creating content;
-- adding taxonomy-aware navigation tools to a departmental Web site (e.g.
search engines with built-in synonym lists, A - Z indexes, topic
hierarchies);
-- creating cross references to concepts on other Web sites;
-- harmonizing departmental codes and categories with enterprise or
international standards;
-- creating applications using taxonomies, such as a competitive
intelligence service based on home-grown or commercially available
taxonomies (e.g. Factiva or ProQuest).

We would like to talk to you if you have any experience or ideas about this
topic. We would also like to talk to any content owners you know who are
already using taxonomies to improve their Web portals or publishing
activities.

Please contact me off list if you would like to share your experiences or
suggest someone we could talk to. If you make a substantive contribution,
we'll send you a summary of our findings.

Regards,
Jean
