[Sigia-l] Year Field: Combo vs. Input Box

I can't see anything wrong using a combo. It's very easy to understand,
rather fast usable and the user is perfectly protected from entering
deceptive data.
The claims IMHO are:
a)don't make the combo unnecessarily "long". What's the sense in offering
dates like 1900? I've never seen a 104 year old ordering his prescriptions
online. Why should one offer the year 2005 when it's still 2004?...
b)ask the user to enter some data but don't force him to. If he doesn't want
to enter all the data now you have to register it politely and indicate it
when the missing data should really be needed.

Cheers,
Jan
