It's been said before on this list, but I think it's worth repeating:
few experiences will make a stronger case than actually seeing member
of your target demographic react to your own site. So, rather than go
out and try to find another site that was 'saved by good UI' I think
you should challenge them to observe a few current or prospective
customer complete a few of the more common activities on your site.
Seeing the people you are targeting being completely lost when using
your site will be a stronger argument than anything else I can think
of.
And if they refuse this, consider going out on your own and
videotaping a few people using the site (that depends on your office
culture if that would be appropriate)
