Purple isn't bad luck. It is just a strong emotional color which evokes
numerous/ambiguous meanings (ie. it is not as simple as clear blue or
distinct as black/white). It seems short-sighted to say any color should
be avoided without knowing the context of use. There is no such thing as
a universal 'bad luck' color.

The ethnomethodologist in me suspects somebody somewhere needed a
'category' of avoidance for some reductionist/executive color summary
and purple got stuck with a raw deal -- just to fulfill some good/bad
dichotomy.

The color purple doesn't seem to bother or detract from these
international brands:
