If I only lean on my knowledge of typography, I would argue that it
*does* matter what order your letters are in -- and that we are talking
about readability here, not legibility. Here's the school book answer.
When we read, we recognize word shapes and try to place them in context
with in the sentence that we are reading. So:
letter order does not matter
leettr order does not mttaer
but:
ltteer order does mtaetr
The example below is using loaded dice, as it were.
If anyone is interested in this from a design/typogaphy perspective I
highly recommend looking at the book 'About Face' by David jury (2002
Rotovision Press). It's best modern book I've found that discusses
these types of issues.
