As form surely follows function, the point here is that it's folly to worry
about the reaction of the 'public' (as in the great 'unwashed masses') at
this point when IA hasn't even secured adequate traction among the people
who might sign our checks. The 'public' doesn't care about any of this
terminological minutiae, even if Wurman did or Tog does.
Our 'public' is the guy who might hire us, over a business analyst, GUI
developer, web designer, etc. That guy has been involved in sending a huge
portion of development work oversees and in massively reducing head count.
He will be faced with the reality that in just six years China will be the
largest PC market in the world. Do you expect him to get exercised over the
difference between interaction designer and interaction architect?
