Hi
I looked into errors & omissions insurance recently, and got these
recommendations:

1/ Try to negotiate a waiver of this clause or a reduction in coverages
required. Often E&O insurance requirement is boilerplate in a contract
geared to software developers.

2/ Be sure to raise your rates to recover the new expense.

3/ Companies that have been recommended by information architects and
writer/editors:

-----
I just got $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 total from
techinsurance.com but it cost me $1300 (including tax & agent fee) the
actual underwriter is ACE of New York City...perhaps because this is my
first time to apply and my business is brand new...I also went for the same
coverage level on General Liability at a cost of $1,100 also through
Techinsurance, underwritten by The Hartford.
----------
The E&O policy I ended up with is through Chubb, a well respected insurance
company. The policy was for $1 million, with a $2 million umbrella. While
not cheap, it was certainly worth it to get the job.
-----------
got reasonable E&O insurance through ccbsure.com, which specialized in
insurance for technology companies.
--------
policy is through a company that deals with microsoft's contracting
insurance needs -- Sacia Risk, and their insurance was a lot more affordable
then most that I looked at. Comes to about $2200-3000 range and varies
according to the size of the contract. 206-748-7733. at 1000 Second Ave.,
Suite 1560, Seattle 98104.
---------------
AON Risk Services - particularly for MSFT vendors
-----------
A libel insurance policy is available to members of National Federation
of Press Women (NFPW) by Executive Risk, a professional liability insurance
company based in Hartford, Connecticut.
------------
I got E&O through Hartford Insurance through Bell-anderson Insurance in
Bvue. I haven't talked to the agents in years, but the number used to be
425-462-7443
--------
I found mine on the web. The broker was TechInsurance.com. The insurance
is with The Hartford. Other than that it is pricy, it seems fine.
TechInsurance has been very prompt about requests for certificates with
the client's endorsement.
-------
try the National Notary Association
1-818-739-4000. They have lists of agents who offer
errors & omissions insurance.

Good luck - Kathleen
