REPORTS TO:Director, Web User Experience
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Create and collaborate on a logical and easily navigable user experience, working with the User Experience, Production and Systems Groups teams as well as various corporate business units. Develop and communicate user interface and site structure, including navigational rules, organization of information, site maps and planning as it relates to the user's experience on the site. Prepare all information architecture documents. Coordinate site concept, interface, and navigational structure of project with functional aspects through the rest of the Internet Group.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Work in collaboration with the Web Design and Content Development, Marketing and Business Unit teams to create and maintain page/site architecture, logic, site flow and contribute to the overall strategic direction and vision of the site.
B. Define site functionality, navigation and interaction, focusing on new service offerings as well as incremental improvements of current offerings. C. Understand and document the existing client business processes and rules while translating strategies into functional design.
D. Provide input and support for user research and usability test plans, apply results of research to designs.
E. Work with members of the User Experience, Production and Systems Groups to ensure that technology supports proposed site content as well as site functionality.
F. Ensure that end user information needs are carefully balanced relative to the technical characteristics or limitations of the medium and network. G. Create solutions designed to scale and grow over time, as the site functionality and content matures and as user requirements evolve.
H. Provide input and support for the Visual Designer in developing the Design/Graphic Style Guide as it pertains to site architecture.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
* Evidence of successful information architecture, navigation design and page template design for a complex Internet site
* Strong working knowledge of Internet technologies
* Excellent design and visual composition skills
* Familiarity with the limits and constraints of design for the Web and across different browsers
* Ability to work with different teams and business units to create a unified user experience
* BA/BS or equivalent experience
* Able to interface effectively with Web Developers, Product Managers, Content Producers and Visual Designers.
* Able to provide direction, leadership and collaboration in the creative process from conception to final production
* Extreme attention to detail and commitment to high quality production standards
* At home in a rigorous, professional environment
