anyone who's gonna be at the receiving end of popular X-man Wolverine's
titanium claws... I assume Chris is Canadian (as is wolverine) or a Marvel
reader.

chum, as I understand it, is fish guts, often used to lure sharks.

hmmm.

Back to IA--- findability as a concept is a useful one. It may also prove to
be a useful one when explaining the value of IA to those who decide
timelines and resources. Those who work for a living as well as work to
change the system from within may find it a useful concept.

As for achieving findability, there could be many systems, persuasive or
user-centered or -- gasp-- both! depending on domain. Black/white
discussions in which people jump up and down and yell "bad! bad" are naive.
Information Architecture, like any type of design, is complex. Design has
been used to sell tobacco and dictators to the public-- is it bad? IA can be
used to hide important information as well as make it findable. But if
you've read Tenner's "Why things bite back" even our innocent actions can
have unforeseen unfortunate consequences. We all have our consciousness to
live with. We all have to work toward making the right choices.

btw, I see who's side Microsoft is taking.. findability is caught by
spellcheck, with the suggested replacement "fundability." heh.
