If I understand you correctly, separating into two search screens
means users cannot have an advanced search that applies to both
content groups at the same time. Thus, from the user perspective, it
is better to have one search screen, not two.

Furthermore, if your advanced search screen is separated into two,
your simple keyword search will have to do similar things. Otherwise,
your simple search screen ends up being more powerful by allowing
a keyword search in two content groups at the same time.
