Given a choice I prefer an open standard over a propitiatory one.

SVG also has a more appropriate focus as a lingua franca for 
diagramming than Flash IMHO. For example, the well thought out 
accessibility features, excellent internationalisation support, the 
ability to easily integrate with other XML technologies, standard 
mechanisms for linking into documents, etc.

(Gosh - a vaguely on topic post. I'm improving ;-)
