I have seen users who were in a hurry and therefore missed or did not
notice the extra columns of radio buttons. Thus, when they did not see
in the first column the option that they were looking for they thought
that option was not supported. Only when they looked again, did they
then notice the extra columns to the right.
My speculation is that when users press for time, they form their
opinion after applying only the primary flow of scanning, i.e. from
top to bottom. But people who are not in a hurry also apply the
secondary flow, i.e. move their attention to the right, after the top
to bottom scanning.
Thus, when placing a handful of radio buttons, I prefer to have only
one column.
