What do you mean by 'scan' though? Recall? Read? Find something specific?
Reading/comprehension as a vector of time? Fewer eye movements? Visual
preference? Language habit? List options with single/few words vs verbose?
The list embedded on a crowded or sparse page? With or without other lists
nearby? When you have to scroll the window to see the whole list? Visual
space between list options? Etc.
There are so many contributory factors here, I doubt you would find a
satisfactory data/study on this. Or you could just go with...
