Well, more like Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry. But, yes, for the middle class
it was taboo/practically illicit to listen to stuff that deviated from the
"business reality" and the "dominant standard" of the day. (Bo even had a
female guitarist in the band!)
It's more like the orthodoxy: "use menus because everybody else does." At
one time GUI (Macintosh) was the Bo Diddley of PCs. Later, one-click
navigation, rollovers, the back button...imagine that. Chuck Berry.
Gyrations. Wooo. How risky!! ;-)
If we don't get our act together now so that the next generation doesn't
have to use PowerPoint and Visio and the rest, we deserve to burn in hell,
slowly.
